#4

1.Kf2? (2.Rd4#) 1...c5!

1.Sd7! (2.Sc5,Sd2#)

1...Bxd7 2.Rc6 (3.Rc4#)
               Bxc6 3.Kf2 (4.Rd4#)
                          e5 4.Sd2#
               Be6 3.Kf2 & 4.Rd4#

The Dresden theme, in which an adequate defence by one piece (1...c5! after the try) is substituted for by a bad defence by another piece (3...e5 in the first variation). By means of two sacrifices, White decoys the black bishop from e6 to c6 and then plays 3.Kf2!, after which the substitute defence 3...e5 self-blocks e5, allowing 4.Sd2#.
