Chess Problem 1992a1e501

The Problemist Supplement, 1992

(b) wRd7->f8
LEO d6
PAO f5
VAO d8

(a) 1.Kd5 PAe5 2.Kc5 LEd5#
(b) 1.Kf4 LEe5 2.Kg3 PAf4#

In each solution the bK takes a two-step walk. After each step the square the king had previously occupied is occupied by a white Chinese piece. The first occupier becomes the rear-piece of an anti-battery mate and the second becomes the hurdle. The white LE and PA exchange roles and there is a diagonal-orthogonal echo in the play.
